Welcome Science Majors/Minors

I'm SO excited you picked Science for Gifted Pirate University!  I can't wait to see what you learn and show us along the way.
MAJORS: Below are the requirements for this major in case you ever need them.  In the comments section, I would love to hear why you picked this major and the first 'course' you would like to take to start earning credits!  You will need 100 credits to 'graduate' at the end of the year.
MINORS:  Below are the requirements for this minor in case you ever need them.  The list is always being added to so check back often.  You will need 25 credits by Christmas Break to earn your Minor of Science.


  • 5 creditsDiscovery Education- Independent Study!   Choose 1 subtopic to study and write a paragraph about what you learned.
  • 10 credits Discovery Education Independent Study! Click HERE for details. When you score an 80% or better on the quiz for the subtopic lesson you receive 10 credits.   There is no max. credits for these at this time.
  • 5 credits (20 max for semester) Research something in the field of Science and write a 1 paragraph summary about what you learned about it AND why it was important to Science!! Write this in Google Docs and share with Mrs. Bronn.
  • 5 credits (20 max for semester)- Read 2 blog posts from the Super Science Bronn Blog and write a 1 paragraph summary on each about what you learned from reading them.  Write the 2 paragraphs total in Google Docs and share it with Mrs. Bronn.  Then Comment on that person's Blog Post about something you found interesting or learned.
  • 5 credits- Write a Super Science Bronn Blog Post on a specific science topic, scientist/inventor, science career.  Your account must be informative and entertaining to your readers.  Include at least 1 image in your post & your source.
  • 5 credits for tutoring another student for 2 hours total (but not during your regular class Science time) in the area of Science.  Use this Tutoring Log Sheet to record your times and what you worked on- be specific.
  •      5  credits - for attendance/participation every 9 weeks in Science/Nature Club- only 1 absence per 9 weeks
  •      credits- Bronn’s Science Blog-  For every posts on Super Science Bronn Blog reviewing  current articles on Science, study something in science that interests you, or research a scientists you will earn 5 credits.  You must site your credible source at the end of the blog.
  •      10 credits- Write a comic book about a famous scientist/inventor or specific science topic.   You must include at least 15 facts that we don't know.  Use the comic templates from Mrs. Bronn if you are doing it on paper (must include color). Always a 3 credible source minimum.
  •     10 credits- Imagine you are a news reporter on the 6 o'clock news.  You've been assigned to explain something in the field of science (topic, scientist, inventor, animal).  Your account must be interesting, accurate, and entertaining.  What will you say?  What visuals will you use to add flair & info to your report?  Upload your video to your Google Drive and then Share the Link on the blog. Always a 3 credible source minimum.
  •      10 credits- Have a Vlog where you discuss/demonstrate something with science & explain why/how it happened.  Upload the video to your student Google Drive account.   You must turn them in 1 at a time so feedback can be given before the next episode. Always a 3 credible source minimum per episode/
  •     10 credits (20 max for the semester)- Research/Present to group AND display on Science Bulletin Board or blog post about a famous scientist, something in science that interests you,  OR research a career/interview people who have a career in a science field.  Always a 3 credible source minimum.
  •     15 credits (30 max for the semester) - Write an A-Z book about a scientist, science career, or specific science topic.  Must also be illustrated.  Always a 3 credible source minimum.
  •     15 credits - Create a game in Scratch that will cover a science topic that you are interested in.  All the questions/answers should focus on the topic you researched. Always a 3 credible source minimum.
  •      20 credits- Exploravision National Competition- Work on it Dec. and Jan. & Submit a project for this competition
  • 30 credits - Pecha Kucha - 20x20 of science topic or scientist/inventor who made a difference.  If  the Pecha Kucha is 15x15 then worth 20 points. Put what you will say during that 20 sec. (or 15 sec) in the Notes section of each slide. 
  • 15 credits- Be on PiraBots/B4 Robotics Team and compete at Qualifying Round in Arkansas. Miss only 1 meeting!
  • 30 credits- Science Fair Project approved by Mrs Bronn that you will display at end of the semester.  For ideas and details to get started you can click HERE for grades 4-5, 6th graders click HERE.   Don't forget you must do the experiment at least 3 times, only have 1 variable in order for it to be valid, and include a research piece.  Keep detailed notes in your Gifted University Notebook & see Mrs. Bronn for details on presenting and your board.
  • 30 credits- Kids TED ed Talk project based on a science area of concern in the Branson area or Missouri (We will be discussing TED ed Talks in January) and what you did to address this problem and how you will inspire others to join in the effort.
